The Beauty of Etsy

June 3rd, 2010 by moonovermaize

I’ve been selling on Etsy now for nearly two years and it has been such a thrill, but I get just as much excitement from buying on Etsy as there is such a huge variety of high quality items to peruse. Here are some of my most recent purchases….

I’ve never been a big fan of the super sweet and very feminine fragrances. Whenever I am in a department store and I have to walk by the fragrance/makeup section I hold my breath and walk as quickly as possible as to avoid suffocation. I like earthy and unusual scents and I have found that in Britton’s shop, gloilocksandbody. I have tried many different items and fragrances and have been so impressed with it all. My favorite is Samhain Scrub which is not available at the moment, but I also love Apothecary, Absinthe and Aduwa. I would buy one of everything from this shop if I had the money! I can’t forget to mention that all of their items are vegan…awesome!!

This next item is from Gild Bookbinders.
I was looking for a special journal to do my jewelry sketches in and as I am interested in medieval England that is what I searched for….I found this…

It is amazing, it is perfect, it was just what I was looking for! I am already trying to decided which I will purchase next when this journal is full!

I came across these beautiful little hoops while I was putting a treasury together on Etsy. They are made by Peggy of The Bead Aerie.

These are lightweight and have a perfect burst of color for summer!

This ring was made by Carita of Jealousy Design.

A simple design to set off this gorgeous piece of amazonite. I have several items from this shop and am sure to buy more!

I was needing some cards and I wanted something sweet and unique and this is what I found at Garden 22 Design Studio

They were just what I was looking for and are even prettier in person. I also bought some herb cards that are fabulous!

I always enjoy a good love story and that is what I found with these 1940’s love letters in Regina’s Studio.

She has more available and I hope to buy more in the future!

All of these sellers I have listed above not only have beautiful shops and high quality items, but they are all wonderful people and I look forward to buying from them all again!

In Memory of my Granddad

May 31st, 2010 by moonovermaize

My granddad was a wonderful man. I had the chance to see my grandparents a few times every year while I was growing up and I now have the fondest memories of those times. I knew that my granddad had served in the military and that he was involved in WWII, but I never thought much about the sacrifices he made and the horrors he witnessed while serving.

He was aboard the USS Santee in 1944 when it was attacked by a kamikaze. It was the first ship to sustain a kamikaze attack. Sixteen of his friends were killed and many more injured. It was then hit by a torpedo from a Japanese submarine. Thankfully, my granddad survived and was able to return home and start his life with his beautiful wife.

My granddad passed away 4 years ago and I miss him so much. I wish I had the chance to talk to him again and to let him know how much I love him and how honored I am to be his granddaughter.

Today, please remember all of our soldiers past and present who work to serve and defend our beautiful and incredible country.

Tagging Game #8

May 28th, 2010 by moonovermaize

I’ve been tagged by the fabulous Allisa of AllisaJacobs!

Here’s the game: in my photos go to the 8th folder and choose the 8th photo…then tell the story.

This photo was taken a couple of months ago (when it was warmer than it is now) of my sweet little girl. I had just drawn our hopscotch layout with some chalk and we were looking for a perfect rock to use. I wish I knew how to put a video on here because she was so cute jumping from square to square. It was a perfect day and I look forward to many more of them this summer!

Join in & share your own 8th of 8th photos!

Tagging these wonderful friends, I would love to see their 8ths!
